Continental Access – Critical Tech Note…Please read.



It is highly recommended to avoid remoting into a CardAccess 3000 Server (Host). If you must remote in, it is recommended to remote into a CardAccess 3000 workstation.

There are many remote control software programs available. One very popular remote control software is Microsoft’s, Remote Desktop. Microsoft’s Remote Desktop software uses the RDP protocol. The Microsoft Server versions of Remote Desktop allows for multiple instances of an application to be launched and running simultaneously.  

WARNING : Running multiple instances of the CardAccess 3000 server (host) software will cause serious and very intermittant problems. This includes all associated programs including the Hostnt.exe, CicDataServer.exe, caNapcoIntegration.exe and all others.   

To determine if there are multiple instances of the CardAccess 3000 software or any associated programs, you must view the Windows Task Manager on the CardAccess 3000 Server (Host).  Below is an example where there are multiple instances of CardAccess 3000 and associated programs. These instances were launched by multiple users.

Very Important : You must select “Show processes for all users” to see all instances of the application. 

In the image below under the processes tab, there are two instances of the CardAccess 3000.exe, CicDataServer.exe, CicDataServerLauncher.exe, caNapcoIntegration.exe and CardAccess.Archive running. There is also a second instance of the Hosnt.exe running which is not visible. If  you review the multiple instances, you will notice there are two users logged on to the computer. This scenario will cause serious problems and must not occur.
